Photographer, Lecturer, lover of Art and Technology. This blog is a sketchbook for my past and current projects. I am hoping to use it as platform for reconnecting with my photographic practice after some time-out in Design and Education.
Background
My formal photography education started with an A/S level photography course in 1997 at Tynemouth College. (now Tyne Metropolitan College) Under the talented educator and photographer Damien Wootten.
I was instantly captivated by the magical process of watching images appear in the developer and demystifying the stages and processes of photography, which until then were hidden.
After the high of discovering photography, an unpleasant year on Art foundation at Newcastle College followed. Despite the unpleasantness and isolation I experienced on that photography programme I developed a new visual vocabulary and it gave me a drive to prove myself. At the end of that year I was fortunate to be selected on the strength of my portfolio to The Edinburgh College of Art.
ECA was a dream come true with its extensive facilities and diverse and dedicated tutors. The Photography programme especially was fantastic, shaped from years of love and devotion by the talented David Williams.
